Ernst Udet was the second highest scoring German fighter ace in WWI with 62 confirmed victories. He was also the fourth highest scoring ace of the Great War. Udet almost ended his career as a fighter pilot on his first mission when he attacked a French aircraft head on. This risky attack could easily have cost him his life, but he escaped relatively unscathed. This model represents what is believed to be the aircraft in which Udet scored his first victory in March, 1916.
