The 737-800 is a stretch version of the 737 Next Generation of short to medium range, narrow-body jet airliners. It replaced the older 727-200 and the discontinued McDonnell Douglas MD-80 in most North American fleets. The 737-800 entered service in 1998. Delta Air Lines is one of the United States' major airlines. It started in 1925 as a small crop-dusting operation out of Macon, Georgia and began passenger operations in 1929 and is now among the world's largest airlines.
